Your Prayers in Action – Contribute to United Thank Offering is on November 11

As Christians, we are called to offer prayers each day. Along with prayers of petition and prayers of remembrance, we do best if we start with the prayers of thanksgiving for our blessings. The day begins in a much more gentle way with this priority in place. The United Thank Offering is a tangible contribution for the many blessings we have experienced and is shared throughout the world to provide blessings to others.

While funds are collected twice a year in congregations throughout The Episcopal Church, disbursement takes place each spring through a board of trained volunteers who have researched the requests received from throughout the Anglican Communion. Fifty-four grants totaling almost $2 million were funded with our collective gifts last year enabling assistance in many places where we could not assist as an individual parish or even a diocese.

The people who are blessed by your giving are learning how to be responsible citizens as they transition out of prison and make a new life. They are children whose educational skills are improved by having after-school tutoring, career planning, and personal leadership mentoring available to them. Those who receive our UTO blessings are as close as Alexandria, Arlington, and Richmond and as far away as Tanzania and Sudan.

We appreciate your being a part of the expanding circle of thankful people by bringing your donation to any of the services on November 11 Envelopes are not necessary but they can be found in your pledge envelope packet or in the pews. If you are giving by check, please make it payable to Christ Church with UTO in the memo line.

Thank you for generously blessing others because God has blessed you.
