Are you curious about how Vacation Bible School (VBS) is moving this year? Here are three ways we are moving and why:

1. Moving Time: Based on feedback from parents and volunteers, and in response to school district decisions made last year around making up snow days, VBS will happen a week later this year. VBS will meet Sunday, June 28 from 5:00 – 7:00 p.m. and Monday, June 29, through Thursday, July 2, from 9:00 a.m. – 12 noon.

This year we are doing something new: a VBS Family Sunday evening! For the opening evening of VBS, we invite families to come with their VBS kids and experience a taste of Hometown Nazareth: Where Jesus was a Kid. Families will visit Mary’s tent for drama, make a mission-oriented craft at Operation Kid-to-Kid, and run around at Fun and Games. We will also worship together and begin to learn some VBS songs, as well as have a great big VBS family picnic together.

2. Moving Location: We partner with Grace Episcopal Church to create, staff, and draw kids to VBS. We have a two-year rotation cycle and it is time for Grace to host again. Christ Church kids, parents, and volunteers get the opportunity to see the variety and breadth of the Episcopal Church when Grace hosts, and the same happens for Grace kids, parents, and volunteers when we host.

3. Moving Experience: The week spent at Vacation Bible School is a powerful and moving experience every year. Kids are moved in new ways and grow in their relationship with God. Volunteers are moved by the insights and God Sightings noticed by the kids they encounter. It is hard work but oh such good work, as well, because VBS is filled with joy. Volunteers are always wanted for this experience. To volunteer or for more information, contact Emily Bryan,, Teresa Terry,, or the Rev. Heather VanDeventer,

Registration will open in April via the Christ Church and Grace websites. See you at Hometown Nazareth!
