From the Rev. Dr. Noelle York-Simmons, Rector:

I am delighted to share with you that The Reverend Dr. Lyndon Shakespeare has accepted our call to serve as Associate Rector of Christ Church, with his first Sunday serving us on April 22. In addition to regular clergy duties, Lyndon will be leading our adult faith formation programs and working closely with our pastoral care programs.

Originally from Australia, Lyndon holds his M.Div from Virginia Theological Seminary and earned a Ph.D. from the Archbishop’s Examination in Theology at Lambeth Palace. Since his ordination in 2002, he has served on the staff of the National Cathedral, as rector of All Saints’ Church in Navesink, NJ, and as interim rector in Vienna and Great Falls in the Diocese of Virginia and also in parishes in the Diocese of Washington.

Lyndon is a gifted teacher and preacher and members of the search committee enjoyed his great sense of humor and a deep well of faith. He speaks eloquently about understanding the faith journey over the lifetime of Christian formation. I look forward to working with him to help create multi-generational opportunities for our parish to learn and grow in the light of Christ.

Look out for opportunities this summer and fall to get to know Lyndon in his new role among us.
