Parties are fun!  And Christ Church parties are super fun!  Last Friday evening we celebrated the Our Little Roses Mission and raised money to support the activities that are done with the girls on the trip.  The event was packed, the food was delicious and the fellowship was lovely.  I met so many parishioners I had not met before and we even had neighbors come and express excitement that we were hosting a Fiesta where the community was invited as well.

Our true goal had been met, to host a fun event where people would make new friends, raise awareness of the OLR Mission and have people want to come to next year.  In the meantime here is our Sangria recipe:

Mel and Paul’s Sangria Recipe

  • 1/2 cup brandy
  • 1/3 cup orange juice
  • 1 (750 milliliter) bottle dry red wine
  • 1/2 cup triple sec
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 2 cups carbonated water (optional)
  • 2 apples sliced into chunks
  • 2 oranges sliced into chunks

In a large pitcher or bowl, mix together the brandy, orange juice, red wine, triple sec, and sugar. Float orange and apples in the mixture. Other fruit can be added. Refrigerate overnight for best flavor. For a fizzy sangria, add club soda just before serving. Can be served over ice.

On June 18 we will be hosting The Feast of the Ugandan Martyrs, where there will be Ugandan drumming, dancing and food. And while there will be items auctioned to raise much needed funds for a 2nd floor at the Mengo Clinic, the goal is also to have fun, make new friends, and raise awareness of this important Christ Church mission.

Look forward to meeting more of you then.

Peace and blessings, Melanie+
