Vestry Election 2024

The Nominating Committee is charged by the Vestry to identify candidates for parish leadership positions, particularly candidates to stand for election to the Vestry and candidates to serve as regional and local delegates.

For Vestry nominations, we solicit and consider nominations from the parish and seek to bring forth to the Vestry a slate of candidates whose talents and expertise meet the Vestry’s greatest needs for the next Vestry year. Before the slate was presented to the Vestry, they were screened for the following canonical criteria: 1) They must be are at least 16 years old; 2) They have been confirmed or received as Episcopalians; and 3) They have a history of giving, interpreted at Christ Church as having a history of pledging. Clergy also reviewed the slate to be sure that all of the parishioners on the slate are pastorally available to serve. This slate was approved on motion to the Vestry.

This year’s slate of six candidates are running for four 3-year terms on the Vestry. In alphabetical order, they are:

  • Kathleen Hickman
  • Nanette (Nan) Lawson
  • Wendy Montes de Oca
  • Steve Slaton
  • Christopher (Chris) Thompson
  • Michael Waschull

Four of these candidates will be elected to serve, replacing Vestry members who are completing their term of service. We ask that you hold

these people and the parish in your prayers as we move forward to Ballot Sunday, March 10. All members of Christ Church aged 16 and above are eligible to vote. Results will be announced the following week, and the nominees will be commissioned at a future service. If you have any questions, please contact Nominating Committee chair, Jaclyn Moyer.
