Please join us on Sunday, July 22 when the Rev. Canon Gideon Byamugisha will be our guest preacher. Rev. Canon Gideon will be attending the International HIV/AIDS conference, July 22-27 in Washington D.C. In 1992, he became the first religious leader in Africa to publicly announce that he was HIV positive. In 1996 he became gravely ill because he had no access to antiretroviral drugs.

The Bishop of Kampala, using the Anglican Church network, found two donors to provide life-saving drugs. In 2009, Rev. Canon Gideon received the 26th Annual Nawano Peace Prize in recognition of his work to uphold the dignity and human rights of people living with HIV/AIDS.

Reverend Canon Gideon serves as a parish priest outside of Kampala, Uganda.
