The Strategic Planning Committee worked through the middle of June drafting a vision for the future of Christ Church and developing an outline for a strategic plan, including four themes with high-level goals. Both the vision and the major goals of the plan were based on the common themes revealed in parish members’ answers to the Dream Big question in the recent parish survey.

The committee also began work on detailed and measurable targets supporting the four major goals and started to consider and document concerns and possible barriers to success. The committee delivered a preliminary draft to the vestry for review and discussion at the vestry retreat June 23 and 24. The vestry is expected to provide comments, questions, additions, and other edits to the committee after the retreat.

The Strategic Planning Committee has used an inclusive approach to planning and its discussions and work have been enriched by the community and parish surveys as well as by the participation of the clergy, staff members, former wardens, and vestry. Later this summer, the program staff will plan and document the action steps that will focus our collective work as we move forward. The expected completion date for the new strategic plan is September.

We will summarize work done throughout the summer in the September Rejoice.

As the SPC works through the summer, we ask that you pray with us, using the words of the prayer for the parish, in The Book of Common Prayer: Almighty and everliving God, ruler of all things in heaven and earth, hear our prayers for this parish family. Strengthen the faithful, arouse the careless, and restore the penitent. Grant us all things necessary for our common life, and bring us all to be of one heart and mind within your holy Church; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
