Physical and spiritual hunger awareness is our theme for Lent. Initially inspired by the work of our teens who have been advocating in multiple ways to alleviate physical hunger, we are offering Lenten opportunities to deepen our understanding of myriad hungers.

Our Many Hungers, an exploration for Lent

We experience many kinds of hunger in our lives. Our bodies experience physical hunger for food but we also hunger for touch and connection. We experience emotional hunger for deeper connection in our relationships, yet we also yearn for the release of fears and pain. We experience spiritual hunger and thirst and cry with the Psalmist, “As the deer longs for the water-brooks, so longs my soul for you O God” (Psalm 42:1).

Deepen your Lenten experience through Outreach & Mission practices

Our Mission and Outreach Committees teamed up to offer ways for you and your family to incorporate this theme into your Lenten practice both at Christ Church and at home. They are  sponsoring a SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) Challenge as a Lenten practice this year and are also offering a variety of ways to participate in both alleviating physical hunger and experiencing a spiritual hunger for God.
