During Lent, we will offer the service of sung Compline on Sundays at 7:00 p.m. in the Historic Church. This simple, candlelit service provides an opportunity to thank God for the blessings of the day and prayers for safety for the coming night.

Compline is an ancient liturgy of the church, especially of monastic communities, which offered prayer before bedtime as the last “Office” or liturgy of the day. It speaks of the experience of drawing oneself in for the night, of offering thanks to God for all the experiences of the day now past, and for safekeeping through the night hours. Members of the Christ Church Choir will sing this simple, elegant liturgy (lasting no more than 15 minutes) in the darkened, candlelit church.

Consider joining in as part of your Lenten journey. All are always welcome!
