Sunday School

In the service of Holy Baptism, the whole Church vows to support the spiritual growth of the individuals being baptized. Sunday School is one of the many ways in which we aim to do that. Our program is designed to meet children, youth, and their families where they are on their faith journey that we might walk together. In Sunday School, each participant (whether student, parent, or volunteer) helps the others grow as disciples of Jesus. We hope you and your family will join us in this vibrant and meaningful ministry.

Children’s Sunday School

Godly Play is a Montessori-based program currently in use in the 3- and 4-year-old classrooms. In each session, children encounter the Word of God and learn to articulate their faith through play, prayer, and wonder.

The Episcopal Children’s Curriculum is used in our Kindergarten Classroom. This curriculum continues our children’s introduction to the stories of the Bible while also teaching them about the Episcopal Church.

Spark Rotation is used in our elementary (1st – 5th Grade) classes. Children spend five weeks with the same Bible story – but each week they rotate to a different classroom to encounter the story through a variety of lenses: Art, Games, Cooking, and more! By spending five weeks on the same story, children are better able to retain what they’ve learned and come to apply their learnings to their own lives and experiences.

Youth Sunday School

The Junior High class (6th-7th graders) meets in the lounge area at the end of the long hall in Fowler House. It follows a modified God Talks curriculum that focuses on the Creed, the Church, and our Community.

The Confirmation class (8th-9th grades) gathers in the Teen Center  in Fowler House to enjoy fellowship and discussion on issues related to faith, Christian living, and engagement in the world.

Throughout the year the classes will engage in outreach and fellowship opportunities tailored to their interests. The third Sunday of each month, both classes help at the All-Parish Fellowship Breakfast.

Senior High students (10th-12th grades) are encouraged to participate in adult forums.

Support our Ministry

Sunday School wouldn’t be possible without support and ministry of our dedicated volunteers. The Sunday School Leadership Team is a group of volunteer teachers, shepherds, storytellers, and group leaders and we’re always happy to welcome new members to the team. Volunteers are provided ample opportunities for growth, fellowship, and support. We’re happy to welcome leaders from a wide range of background and experience – all we ask is that you arrive on Sundays willing to laugh and ready to talk authentically about your faith in Jesus. And maybe prepared to do some intensive coloring.
