The Alexandria Shooting

My prayers are lifted today for those injured in the shooting incident in Del Ray, particularly Steve Scalise, Zach Barth, Roger Williams, Matt Mika, David Bailey and Krystal Griner. I also raise my prayers to God for those who rushed in to help, particularly the U.S. Capitol Police, Alexandria Police, and medical personnel, who regularly put their own lives in jeopardy in order to protect and save the lives of others. I grieve for our communities, for innocence lost and for a delicate peace broken. I pray for the shooter and for the anger and brokenness that lead him to believe that violence was his only recourse.

In quires and places where they sing

If I were to approach the clergy or vestry at any church and say, “Hey, I’ve got 50+ people who are looking to donate 3 to 4 hours each week to the church from September to June, is that OK?” I cannot imagine that they would not jump for joy in response. But perhaps you don’t realize that is what our choirs offer each week, and sometimes more.

I Believe I am So Called

I am delighted to announce that the Right Reverend Edwin F. Gulick Jr. has admitted me as a postulant for Holy Orders in the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia. I have formally started a period of preparation alongside Bishop Gulick leading, God willing, towards ordination to the priesthood.
