Omnipresence

Posted by Jason, July 22, 2015

Like most of you, I was fascinated with the spacecraft “fly-by” last week of Pluto. Amazing to be looking at something so clear which the human eye had never seen before. Equally remarkable is the fact that it was only 112 years ago that the Wright brothers developed the airplane. That’s a big jump from just getting something off of the ground to sending something flying to the furthest point in our solar system in just over a century.

Art Inspiring Friends Inspiring Art

Posted by Ann, September 10, 2014

A few weeks ago, I gave myself the visual treat of taking in the Mary Cassatt/ Edgar Degas exhibit at the National Gallery, there through October 5. The paintings are gorgeous and to see the way these artists speak to one another, fostered by their artistic friendship was fascinating. I highly recommend the $5 audio tour.

Prayer for the New Day

Posted by Heather, September 4, 2014

It was back to school this week for my daughters. They continue their journey through elementary school with its own joys and struggles. We’ve been having a variety of pep talks in the past week – getting the brain ready to be back at school, staying on task, being open to friends old and new – as well as reminders to be kind, to care for others, to embody our family’s values, and to live out their lives as Christians even in the school environment.

The Voice You've Been Waiting For

Posted by Ann, May 14, 2014

One of the goals in our Strategic Plan is personal accountability. I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but a high percentage of my recent sermons have ended with the question, “What are you going to do about it?” So, this morning I’m telling you the ending right up front. And you can be listening, all the way through, for exactly what I am going to ask you to do.

The Continuum along Doubt and Faith

Posted by Heather, April 30, 2014

We just marked the second Sunday of Easter, which is often called Doubting Thomas Sunday. Poor Thomas! He asks a question of the other disciples, makes a bravado statement in his grief and struggles, and gets labeled “doubting” for the rest of history. There is a great comic that I saw making the rounds this past week.

Turning down the radio

Posted by Jason, March 12, 2014

I usually spend most of my Lent trying to decide what my Lenten discipline is going to be. Often I will arrive at Easter still undecided. This comes as no surprise to most people who know me – I only recently decided what my New Year’s resolution would be for 2012.
