Youth Education - Why, When and Who
The most frequently asked question by teens when they hit 7th
grade:
"Why do I still have to go to Sunday School?"
You don't.
You don't; you get to
decide. But how are you supposed to decide whether hanging out with a
bunch of other kids and a couple of adult mentors is worth it on a
Sunday morning at 10 AM.
Is it worth it?
Worth what? More sleep? Really, what
are
you going to do with more sleep, anyway.
Highly overrated.
Worth what?
Working on that research paper? Were you
really
going to work on it on Sunday morning?
Worth what?
Risking that it might be boring? Don't even tell me you've never kept
watching a boring television show or concert.
Worth what?
That maybe you'll get a glimpse into the God who loves you more than
your parents do? That maybe you'll get to stay the most outrageous,
non-O.K. thing about God or church and find out that it's O.K. to say
what you doubt? It's O.K. to say what you wonder - and that in wondering
you move closer to the heart of God and find out God's been hanging out
just waiting for you to say it all along?
Come on, come to
Rite-13 (if you're in 7th grade) and Journey to Adulthood (if you're in
8th -11th grade) - there's little to loose and lots to be gained -
including a bunch of mentors who are turning out for you. Meet us in the
Fowler House, from sermon time until 11:00
AM.
