2012 Vestry Nominations Open
Nominations are open for members of the vestry, the
governing board of Christ Church. Composed of the rector and 12 parishioners
elected to three-year terms, the vestry retires four of its members each
year. Rotating off are Elaine Ho, Joe Walsh, Bob Thomson, and Brian Wommack.
Qualifications: National and diocesan church laws
and guidelines require that a candidate for vestry be 16-years old or older,
a member in good standing, which means faithfulness in worship, service, and
financial support of the church through faithful giving for the spread of
God’s kingdom. Individuals should offer demonstrated leadership abilities;
have the ability to view the church as a whole, rather than advocating for
one particular program or ministry; desire to review the effectiveness of
church policies and ministry programs; be interested in collaborating with
the rector and staff on goals and objectives of the overall ministry; and
have a commitment to the mission of Christ Church and the willingness to
accept God’s call to serve. The vestry is also responsible for the
stewardship and financial management of the parish and the care of the
physical campus. A variety of skills and working backgrounds is necessary
for a strong vestry, as well as a balance among the members in age, gender,
ethnicity, and length of parish membership.
Deadline for Nominations is February 15.
If you know of someone who fits this description or if you yourself are
called to serve, please submit a nomination form, available until February
15 at services, at the parish office, and online.
